FreewayNC Teacher Training Module

This 25-minute, click-through training is designed to provide teachers with information for using the curriculum.

    TIPS FOR VIEWING THE MODULE:

  • Do NOT view module on a phone.

  • Close other windows/programs that are open on your computer. 

  • Print the FreewayNC Training Module Handout (below) for reference.

  • If you experience audio or video delays, backtrack several slides or  restart your computer. You can also download the module below and view with PowerPoint.

Trauma-Informed Approach Resources

Trauma-Informed Care Module (30 minutes), “SOAR Online is a new series of CE/CME training modules that you can complete whenever, wherever you like. Each module discusses the SOAR framework and how to apply it where you work.” Allow additional time to complete a brief registration process. Credits are available for completion of the training. When visiting the site, select Trauma-Informed Care Module. You will need to create an account to complete the training. The link to create an account is found below "Available SOAR Online Modules."

 

Creating, Supporting, and Sustaining Trauma-informed Schools: A System Framework, The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) “presents a tiered approach to creating a trauma-informed school environment that addresses the needs of all students, staff, administrators, and families who might be at risk for experiencing the symptoms of traumatic stress.”

Identifying Risk Factors and Responding

The National Center on Safe and Supportive Learning Environments created an online guide to Human Trafficking in America’s Schools. The guide includes information on risk factors and indicators, general information on awareness, policies and protocols and sample protocols for suspected recruitment, suspected victim and confirmed victim.

The US Department of Justice (NSOPW) provides information on indicators of sexual abuse.

Polaris operates a US directory of local organizations. The directory is useful for accessing information on organizations in your community that provide emergency, transitional and long term services for victims and survivors. It also helps connect individuals with training and volunteer opportunities.

The National Human Trafficking Hotline as well as other national crisis hotlines and tip lines provide a variety of resources for assistance and information.

Report suspected trafficking.

North Carolina Specific Information

The National Human Trafficking Resource Center provides annual North Carolina specific statistics from calls to the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
